Commissions
A timeless piece tailored to your tastes.
If you can dream it, I can paint it.
You don’t need a good photo. You don’t need all the details. Just an idea will do. We will start with that. Bring the pieces together. Online. On site. Or in person. Let’s make some art.
Heavy bodied acrylic for tangible brushstrokes. Buttery oil-like finish. Highest pigment concentration. Hand-stretched canvas. Painstaking preparation. Microscopic detail. Preserved with French-made varnish. A commissioned painting. Made to stand the test of time.

What my co-creatives have to say about commissions
“The painting looks incredible in real life! Jack did an outstanding job.
As a sailor, accuracy in the painting of a yacht is really important. I was shown a painting of a good friend of my fathers yacht the other day, and while it was very well done, the artist added his own artistic license which was entirely wrong and made the whole thing look embarrassingly unseaman-like to other sailors.
Jack’s commission by contrast is meticulously accurate!”

“When I decided I wanted to give my partner an extra-special gift of a painting of Matapouri, I took to the internet to find an artist who would commission this for me. I found Jack McDonald online and was impressed with his quick responses and openness about the commission process (time, cost, what would happen if I didn’t Iike it etc.)
I sent him some photos which he spliced together to create an image I was happy with before starting to paint. Jack sent painting updates along the way as I lived in a different city and whilst I was really nervous about seeing the painting competed for the first time, I needn’t have been as we loved it! He even sent me digital images with various framing options for ideas.
I would highly recommend getting a commission painting as you get an original painting of something that is important to you. Ours hangs with pride in our living room and is commented on frequently by guests, but more importantly for us is that everyday we have a reminder on our wall of place that is special to us both.”
