Still have questions?

What happens if I don't have a photo I like?

Don’t worry, hope is not lost.

One option is that I take the photo for you. This is often my preferred method as it gives me a feel for the location and I am able to take a range of photographs to help recreate the scene.

The second option is that you give me whatever photos you have and I recompose the scene for you. I can easily insert, remove, recolour and rearrange elements of a scene so that the final composition it is exactly how you want it.

Send me what you’ve got and I’ll go to work on it!

I am not really sure what I want, can you help me?

Absolutely! People often come to me with a vague idea of what they want but struggle to articulate it. They might want a painting of their yacht but they often that’s far as they’ve got.

That works perfectly for me. In this case I like to collate a bunch of different photos for you and start the conversation so we can extract that idea from your mind.

My philosophy is “the more the merrier”, so when I am supplying you with options for potential paintings, you will have plenty to choose from.

How long does a commission take to paint?

Good things take time and I won’t rush a painting to meet a deadline. It really depends on the individual piece but an unframed artwork will take up to a month depending on the size and amount of detail. You can add another 2 to 3 weeks if you would like me to get the painting framed.

What are you waiting for? Send me a message and we can talk about this idea of yours.

What medium do you use?

For over a decade I have painted purely with acrylics. I combine them with gels, ‘openers’, varnishes and other ‘enhancers’ to achieve some light-bending effects.

I don't know what kind of frame I want, can you give me some advice?

There are a number of framing options for your commission and often it seems overwhelming.

I am happy to organise framing on your behalf or give you guidance on what to do.

For more information on framing options, check out my post on Choosing a frame and feel free to contact me if you still have questions

Do you ship overseas?

I have shipped paintings all around New Zealand, Australia and the world. Courier companies are well versed with transporting paintings and I have got the packaging down to a fine art. Your painting will be safe and insured in the 0.00000001% chance it is lost or damaged (which to this day has never happened.)

What if I don't like the finish product?

I have never had a commission where the client wasn’t happy with their new piece of art. Because we endeavor on this journey together, there really aren’t any surprises.

If however, you still decide the work isn’t to your taste, there is no obligation to buy and I would be more than happy keeping it in my private collection.
